One of the first things you do when installing a game on your computer is enter a serial number or key code. Without it, you can't activate the game. If you are positive you have lost your serial number or key code you aren't completely out of luck—yet. There are a couple of methods you can use to locate it.

Check Your Computer's Registry

There's a good chance you can find a stored serial number in the Windows Registry, so check to see if the key code is still there. Even if you uninstalled the game, an entry with the serial number may still be in the registry. Be careful not to delete any entries while in the registry, or you may have problems getting your other programs to run.

Go to Start and click Run. Type in regedit and click OK to open the registry. Search for the game's title using CTRL+F, and click F3 to continue the search if the title doesn't show up on the first page of results. Look in the data column for a long string of numbers and letters that looks like a serial number. Write it down or copy and save it.

    You will need to buy new ones.
    Only games that you register here you can download from Origin.

    If your games are still installed then you can get the serial numbers if you're running Windows. The location in the registry depends on whether your running 32-bit or 64-bit. However, I will have to wait until I'm on my laptop and not my phone to help you.

    So I'm home on lunch but heading back to work.
    In the Windows OS, you can type regedit in RUN (Windows Key + R) to look for the CD keys in the following registry paths:
    This would be the path for the base game registration code.
    For 32-bit OS:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREElectronic ArtsSimsThe Sims 3ergc
    For 64 bit OS:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeElectronic ArtsSimsThe Sims 3ergc
    Example:
    I am running Windows 7 64-bit. Below is where I would find my registration code for the base game. As you can see all my other game codes would be in the ergc file for that EP or SP.
    Once you have the registration codes you should be able to put them in Origin.
